Try and keep things neutral and not too intense when you go on your first date with your potential new fella! Try to keep things light hearted and fun.

There are a few topics that are best avoided on your first date, although you may feel passionately about it but its better not to speak about them when you are trying to impress the guy you are out with.

Do not talk about your relationship with your ex and why you guys broke up. No one really wants to hear someone drone on about how upset they were and how he did this and said that. What he did and what he didn’t do etc. Althouth you may feel better getting it off your chestand it may have given you the chance to ‘get it off your chest’ but your date will think you still have feelings for your ex and that you still want to be with him.

By all means discuss your job but try not to speak too much about how you have dedicated your entire life to it and stuff like that.

Swearing is an absolute no-no when you go out on a first date, most men hate women who swear their heart out at every single opportunity. Of course I suppose it does depend on the type of guy you are out with by in general most guys aren’t impresses by women who swear all the time.

Try not to interrupt him when he is speaking, if you are bursting to speak wait for him to finish and then start talking. If you keep interrupting him then he will think you are not actually interested in what he has to say and that you like to listen to the sound of your own voice!

Going out on a date should be an enjoyable experience and it is the ideal opportunity to get to know more about the person and it is your chance to impress – but it can be very easy to blow it and your first date will determine whether you see him again or not.
